ClauseCatcher Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 2025
Introduction
ClauseCatcher is a Chrome extension that helps you understand Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy documents by summarizing them in plain English and flagging potentially concerning clauses. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect your privacy.
What Data We Collect
ClauseCatcher collects the following data:
Website Content
When you click the "Analyze" button on a Terms & Conditions or Privacy Policy page, ClauseCatcher extracts the text content from that page. This includes:
- Text content from the legal document you're viewing
- The URL of the page you're analyzing
Important: ClauseCatcher only collects this data when you explicitly click the analysis button. We do not automatically collect or analyze pages without your action.
How We Use Your Data
The text content you choose to analyze is used solely for the following purposes:
- AI Analysis: The text is sent to our secure backend server, which uses Venice AI to analyze and summarize the document.
- Local Storage: The analysis results (summary and flagged clauses) are stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage. This allows you to view the results later when you open the extension popup.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
- Venice AI: The text content you analyze is sent to Venice AI's API (via our secure Vercel backend) to generate the summary and flag concerning clauses. Venice AI processes this data according to their own privacy policy.
- Vercel: Our backend infrastructure is hosted on Vercel, which processes the data as necessary to provide the analysis service.
- No Other Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties for advertising, marketing, or any other purposes.
Data Storage
- Analysis Results: Stored locally on your device using Chrome's
chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your device except when you explicitly request an analysis.
- No Cloud Storage: We do not maintain any cloud-based database of your analyses or browsing history.
- No Persistent Storage: The text content you analyze is not stored on our servers after the analysis is complete.
Data Security
- All data transmission between your browser and our backend uses HTTPS encryption.
- Our backend uses secure, encrypted connections to communicate with Venice AI's API.
- We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your data during transmission.
Your Control and Choices
- Opt-Out: You can choose not to click the "Analyze" button on any page. ClauseCatcher will not collect any data unless you explicitly request an analysis.
- Delete Data: You can clear your local analysis history by clearing Chrome's extension storage or uninstalling the extension.
- No Tracking: We do not track your browsing history, clicks, or any other activity beyond the single page you choose to analyze.
What We Don't Collect
ClauseCatcher does not collect:
- Your personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
- Your browsing history (except the single URL you choose to analyze)
- Your location
- Authentication information (passwords, login credentials)
- Financial or payment information
- Health information
- Personal communications
- Any data from pages other than the one you explicitly choose to analyze
Children's Privacy
ClauseCatcher is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
